The British Royal Navy admitted today that it had been conducting operations off the coast of Cornwall at the time 26 otherwise healthy dolphins became stranded and died on Monday. The Ministry of Defense initially denied that any navy ships were in the area, but later recanted after a slew of area residents reported seeing navy ships conducting operations. The MoD further admitted that the Royal Navy was in fact, conducting sonar exercises—a known cause of dolphin stranding—but said it was “extremely unlikely” that the Royal Navy was responsible for the dolphin deaths. Read “bullshit” here. Once again, the British government acts in its own best interest with nary a care for the environment and underestimating the competence of its own subjects.
